Kinky curls are stylish and bold. African American hair often tends toward kinky or very curly. Kinky hairstyles can be created with the actual hair on a woman's head, or in the form of human hair extensions that are attached to the head. Hair weaves, or extensions, are common in the black community. It is important that the extensions are made of human hair, otherwise it looks fake and is difficult to style. - A wild kinky hairstyle for human hair is large and swept off the face, in an almost-Afro hairstyle. The hair is about mid-neck length and sweeps upwards and off of the face. The overall look is quite round, but the kinky curls give it a styled flair. Change up the look by pinning up the back of the hair and creating a modified up-do.
- A chin-length, kinky hair-do is stylish and also work-appropriate. Kinky hair at this length can become too poofy, if not layered and tamed. Whether the human hair is naturally on the head, or is woven, it needs those layers. As bangs don't work well with this hair texture, wear the hair off of the face and swept backwards. Add headbands or decorative clips to alter the style.
- A high ponytail is youthful and easy to style. Sweep the hair up into a ponytail on the crown of the head. Secure it using a hair tie. Enhance the kinky curls with a small-barrel curling iron. It's appropriate for use on human hair extensions. Pull out some curls around the front of your face.
- A kinky, two-toned, long hairstyle is easy to create using hair extensions. This style extends several inches below the shoulders. Add layers throughout the front, so that it frames the face and gives shape to the hairstyle. On the top of the hair only, add human hair extensions in a bright color, such as bright red or even blond.
