A prolapsed hemorrhoid is one of the top causes of pain and irritation.
Contrary to this, external hemorrhoids are those that are found under the skin of the anus.
When these are irritated, external hemorrhoids itch and even bleed.
The blood can form a clot or a thrombus that leads to further pain and swelling.
Among all the hemorrhoids symptoms, bleeding is the most common.
It should be noted that the presence of blood can be caused by other conditions such as cancer.
This is why it is important not to assume that the blood is caused by hemorrhoids without the advice of a doctor.
The doctor should do a physical examination to diagnose the condition of hemorrhoids and rule out other diseases.
Doctors also recommend the seeking out of medical advice if the hemorrhoids lead to pain, frequent or excess bleeding, and sensations of lightheadedness or dizziness.
If the stool appears black or maroon in color, this could be indicative that there is bleeding elsewhere and medical attention should be sought without delay.
