- 1). Apply the parking brake and chock the rear wheels. Place a hydraulic jack under the front driver's side frame rail. Loosen the wheel lug nuts with a lug wrench, then raise the jack until the wheel is off the ground. Place a jack stand under the frame rail and lower the jack. Continue loosening the lug nuts, then remove them. Pull the wheel off and place it aside.
- 2). Locate the coil spring, which is mounted in between the upper suspension control arm and the shock tower. Place an external spring compressor over the spring, making sure the hooks in both ends are placed over one of the coils at the top and bottom of the spring. Tighten all of the adjustment bolts on the compressor equally with a socket and ratchet wrench in a clockwise direction to compress the spring slightly.
- 3). Remove the lower mounting stud bolts on the shock absorber with a socket and ratchet. Open the hood and locate the upper shock mounting bolts on the shock tower and remove them as well. Pull the shock absorber straight up and out of the shock tower from the engine compartment and place it aside.
- 4). Continue tightening the adjustment bolts on the spring compressor until the spring is free of its perches and can be removed from the car. Place the spring on the ground. Slowly and carefully turn the compressor adjustment bolts in a counterclockwise direction until the spring is fully decompressed. Remove the compressor from the spring.
- 5). Place the spring compressor on the replacement spring and tighten the adjustments bolts until the spring is compressed enough to fit in between its perches on the car. Carefully position the spring in place, then began loosening the adjustment bolts on the compressor.
- 6). Install the shock absorber in the reverse order of removal before the spring is fully decompressed.
- 7). Finish loosening the spring compressor adjustment bolts until the spring is fully decompressed and the compressor can be removed.
- 8). Replace the wheel and tighten the lug nuts. Raise the jack and remove the jack stand. Lower the jack until the wheel is on the ground.
- 9). Repeat the procedure to replace the passenger side front spring.
