Getting paid to blog is every bloggers dream, but how is it possible to achieve this?
Not so long ago, I was asking myself the very same questions that you may be asking yourself now. Questions like, How can I make money from my blog? and How can I get more traffic and readers to my blog? For it is this traffic and these readers that will ultimately convert your blog into a money producing venture.
The actual process of monetizing any blog is really quite simple. There is a myriad of monetizing opportunities available for bloggers to harness. The most popular being Google's AdSense program. So let's start with that.
AdSense (Google's advertising program) is free to sign up with, and after doing so the process of placing the add code on your website is really quite simple. Especially if you are using Google's native blogging platform Blogger. With blogger, setting up your AdSense zones and ads is simply just a matter of inputting your publisher code into the AdSense widget and then deciding on where you want your ads to be displayed on your pages. Super Easy! Literally just a few mouse clicks and it is done.
However, if you are using a different blogging platform or are hosting your own blog, then it would become necessary to actually create an ad unit over at your AdSense account dashboard and then copy and paste the html code into your site's template. Not all that difficult to do provided you follow the instrucions that Google provides. It does take quite a lot longer, though.
Implementing ads on your site after signing up with AdSense is really quite easy to do. Actually getting approved for an AdSense publishing account can be quite a task for a complete beginner, though. It takes time before being approved and it is not uncommon to be rejected by Google on your first or even your second attempt. I was rejected 5 times by AdSense, so I was forced to really take a look at how my site was formed and how it was presented. I had to tweak and adjust, rinse and repeat many, many times. Then finally one day not so very long ago, they approved my AdSense account. I really don't know why it took so long, but I have heard that it is now a requirement that your site be at least 3 months old before they will accept you.
Since being approved, I have made some money. Not a whole lot, but it seems to be growing day by day. It is all parallel and closely related to traffic, readership, and back linking to your website. I know it is possible to make a steady income from AdSense alone, though. It just takes patience and time. A bit like raising kids, really.
