How to Install a Short Shifter into a Civic

    • 1). I recommend driving the car up on ramps. If you don't have any, secure the car up on jack stands. Remove the shifter knob and front center console from the car.

    • 2). Remove the 2 bolts holding the exhaust up and move it out of the way.

    • 3). Under the shifter there is a plate that holds it to the car, remove these bolts. On the transmission end, there is another bolt on one rod and the other rod there is a 'bitch pin' that you use a punch to remove.

    • 4). Remove the entire linkage from the car. There is a plate with 2 bolts holding it together that you need to remove. They are almost round with 2 flat sides. Use some plies to hold them while you take them off.

    • 5). Take your new shifter and put the plate on the new rods. The rest of the installation is the same as removal! Enjoy!
