- 1). Massage aloe vera or a lotion containing vitamin E over your body as soon as the tan lines appear. Decide whether you want to disguise the line or eliminate it.
- 2). Mix bronzer into liquid foundation to create a dark foundation that will disguise tan lines. Work the foundation into the lighter area of the skin to make it appear tanned like the rest of your body.
- 3). Rub baby oil all over the affected areas. Allow the oil to soak into the skin for about an hour. Take a long, hot bath to eliminate tan lines. Soak in the tub for at least 30 minutes. Exfoliate your skin by rubbing it with a loofah or a washcloth. This will remove the top layer of skin that is burned, removing the unsightly tan line.
- 4). Create a paste of baking soda and water. Rub this paste into your body to remove even more of the tan line. The baking soda method is less harsh than the loofah method and is more effective for sensitive areas like the face and neck. Rinse the baking soda with water and wash your body as you normally do.
- 5). Use a cotton ball soaked in hydrogen peroxide to bleach any remaining dark spots a lighter color. Hydrogen peroxide is a mild bleaching agent and it will not harm the skin. However, it is best to reserve this method for small areas of skin. Make sure there are no clothes or other fabrics around that could get bleached by the liquid.
- 6). Follow all treatments with another application of aloe vera or vitamin E lotion. The vitamins inside these lotions help encourage new cell growth. This helps the body produce new skin cells quickly. Growing new cells is the most effective way of removing tan lines, so apply the lotions liberally throughout the day for best results.
