- 1). Click the "Start" button and in the "Start" menu click "Control Panel."
- 2). Click "Switch to Classic View" in the left pane, then double click the "Power Options" button in the "Control Panel."
- 3). Drop down the "Power Schemes" menu in the dialog box which appears. Choose the "Portable/Laptop" option and click "OK."
- 1). Enter the BIOS. This can be done by default by continuously pressing the "F2" during the computer boot up sequence. Consult the HP website or the motherboard manual if the key does not work.
- 2). Scroll through the Tabs until the "Frequency/Voltage Control" option is found. Once you find it press "Enter" and choose an appropriate lower value for this setting.
- 3). Scroll through the Tabs until the "CPU Clock Speed" option is found. Once you find it press "Enter" and choose an appropriate lower value for this setting.
- 4). Scroll through the Tabs until the "Front Side Bus (FSB) Frequency" option is found. Once you find it press "Enter" and choose an appropriate lower value for this setting.
- 5). Scroll through the Tabs until the "Core Voltage (vCore)" option is found. Once you find it press "Enter" and choose to lower the value for this setting with as minimal change as possible. Once the settings are done, choose the "save and exit" option to restart and initialize these settings.
