How to Control Updates on XP

    • 1). Click "Start" and then "Control Panel" to open the Windows XP Control Panel.

    • 2). Double-click the "System" icon to open the System Properties window.

    • 3). Select the "Automatic Updates" tab.

    • 4). Select "Automatic (recommended)" to have your computer automatically check if updates are available and download them. You can set the frequency with which Windows XP checks for updates using the drop-down lists beneath "Automatic (recommended)."

    • 7). Click "Apply" in the lower-left corner of the Automatic Updates dialog box to save your changes. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
