- 1). Peel down the top two corners of the window coating. If necessary, use a credit card or a pair of tweezers to help grasp them. Continue pulling the film in a straight downward motion to remove the entire coating.
- 2). Lay the coating flat on a clean, non-scratching work surface.
- 3). Dip a non-abrasive sponge in a solution of hot water and dishwashing soap. Wash the window coating. Rinse the sponge in fresh water, and wipe down the coating again to remove any soap residue. Dry the coating with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth.
- 4). Turn the coating over, and repeat the cleaning process on the other side.
- 5). Spray the window with window cleaner, and buff it clean with a paper towel.
- 6). Reapply the coating. Some brands require misting the window or the coating with water or soapy water prior to application. Stick the top edge of the coating at the top of the window.
- 7). Smooth the rest of the film onto the window. Glide the blade of a squeegee across and up and down the film to work out any bubbles.
