How to Edit a Corrupt Registry

    • 1). Insert the DVD into the drive. With the DVD in the drive, reboot your computer. The computer detects the media and prompts you to press any key to boot to the DVD. Press "Enter" at the prompt.

    • 2). Choose your keyboard settings, timezone and language on the first screen. Click "Next." The next screen prompts you to install the operating system. Instead, click the "Repair Your Computer" link to open the Recovery Console.

    • 3). Choose your operating system from the next window and click "Next." The next window is the Recovery Console options. Click the "Startup Repair" link.

    • 4). Click "OK" after the Recovery Console performs several checks on the system and offers to repair the registry. When the repair finishes, remove the DVD and reboot.
