- 1). Turn off the Mercedes 300D and sit in the driver's seat.
- 2). Remove the two screws on the steering column that hold the bezel together.
- 3). Pry the bezel apart with your hands or use a flat head screwdriver as a wedge.
- 4). Unplug the large wiring block from the base of the current headlight switch. It pulls right out but may need some wiggling to free it.
- 5). Turn the headlight switch out of its bracket and slide it passed the holding tabs. Insert the replacement switch in the opposite manner in which you removed the old switch. Ensure that the replacement switch is properly seated by listening for a "click" sound. Plug back in the wiring block and close the steering column bezel and tighten it to the column with the screws.
