- 1). Gather your jewelry making tools and supplies. You will need leather or imitation leather stringing material, two or more brass nuts or hex nuts in the size of your choice, hand made or commercial ear wire findings, scissors and pliers.
- 2). Using your scissors, cut 5 inches of leather or imitation leather stringing material.
- 3). Fold the leather or imitation leather stringing material in half.
- 4). Make an over hand knot in the material. Be sure to leave a large enough loop above the knot so that you have room to hold the brass nut or hex nut and still have room to add your ear wire finding. The stringing material below the knot will be left as a fringe.
- 5). Slide the brass nut or hex nut onto the leather or imitation leather stringing material until it sits on the knot.
You can change the look of the earrings by selecting different sizes of brass nuts or hex nuts. You can also add more than one brass nut or hex nut on each earring to create a pattern. - 6). Use your pliers to add the hand made or commercial ear wire finding to the loop on the leather or imitation leather stringing material.
- 7). Repeat to create matching brass nut or hex nut earring.
