How to Drain a Radiator in a 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager

    • 1). Drive the Grand Voyager onto a set of car ramps and secure it by pulling the emergency brake. This gives you room to safely work under the vehicle.

    • 2). Place a 5-gallon bucket directly under the radiator petcock (drain) that is located on the passenger side of the radiator. Placing a bucket under the radiator prevents the need to connect a drain hose.

    • 3). Remove the petcock with a pair of small pliers and allow the fluid to drain into the bucket. Excessive force should not be used to open the petcock. If a light turn with the pliers does not work, the petcock should be sprayed with an anti-seize spray or a de-rusting spray available from an auto part store.

    • 4). Place a small amount of plumber's tape around the threads of the petcock before threading it back into the radiator, to prevent leaking.
