- 1). Design your badge holder. There are several things that you need to take into account. A badge holder needs to be professional enough that your employer will approve of it and neutral enough that you can wear it with any outfit, but also unique and personalized so that you will want to wear it.
- 2). Purchase your beads and a badge holder. These are often readily available at local craft stores, though you can purchase jewelry making supplies online from a reliable retailer. You can choose a metal piece specifically made for badges or simply round off your badge holder with a key ring instead.
- 3). Cut a length of beading cord about 24 inches long. Badge holders are generally long strings that can slip over your head and hang somewhere between waist and mid-chest. Your exact badge length will depend on how tall you are and where on your torso you want the badge to hang.
- 4). Slide a crimp bead and a bead tip onto the end of your cord, and use crimping pliers to squeeze the crimp bead down over the cord until it cannot move. You may want to add a drop of glue to secure the crimp.
- 5). Grasp both sides of the clamshell bead tip with a pair of chain-nose pliers and squeeze the bead tip until the clamshell covers the crimp.
- 6). String your beads onto the cord, based on the pattern that you designed. Do not hesitate to change your pattern if you find that you can create a more attractive combination in place of your original design.
- 7). Attach another crimp bead and bead tip to the other end of your cord once you have threaded all the beads on.
- 8). Fold the hooked end of your clamshell bead tips onto the key ring or the metal badge holder piece, using your pliers to secure that connection. You can now slide your badge onto the badge holder or key ring and start wearing it to work.
