How to Install XP on a Toshiba Tecra

    • 1). Load the Windows XP installation CD into your Toshiba Tecra's DVD or CD drive. Restart the laptop after the installation CD has been inserted.

    • 2). Allow Windows XP to load to the "Press any key to boot from CD" screen, and tap any key on your Tecra's keyboard once to continue. Press the "Enter" button as soon as the "Welcome to Setup" screen is displayed.

    • 3). Read over Microsoft's Software License Terms for the Windows XP operating system. Agree to the terms by pressing the F8 key on your Tecra's keyboard.

    • 4). Select the hard drive on your Tecra laptop on which to install Windows XP. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to proceed.

    • 5). Wait for Windows XP to copy the necessary files and folders to your Toshiba Tecra. Your laptop will be restarted after the files have been copied.

    • 6). Type your Windows XP product key into the provided area. Enter a name for the computer and create an administrative username and password.

    • 7). Choose the date and time settings for your area, and Windows will complete the setup process. Once complete, the Windows XP desktop will load on your Toshiba Tecra.
