- 1). Click "Start," then choose "Search" to display the "Search" window.
- 2). Enter your search terms in the text box. Check tho box next to the type of file you are looking for such as "Video" or "Music." This speeds up the process by automatically eliminating other file types from the procedure.
- 3). Click "Use Advanced Procedures," if needed, to specify a word in the file, confine the search to specific drives and folders or designate a date and size.
- 4). Click "Search" to display the results. If the file you need appears, click "Stop" to end the search.
- 5). Open the file by right-clicking it and choosing "Open."
- 1). Choose "File" from the Finder toolbar then select "Find" to display the "Find" dialog box.
- 2). Choose specific folders or drives under the "Search In" box, if you want to limit the search to specific locations.
- 3). Enter the name of the file by "File Name Contains." You can add additional file name options by clicking the "+" button.
- 4). Add additional options, as needed, in the "Date Created" and "Extension" boxes. To include more specific criteria such as author or theme, click "Add Criteria."
