- 1). Connect the USB cable (provided with the purchase of the iPhone) to the bottom port of the phone, then insert the other end into an available USB port on the computer.
- 2). Wait for iTunes to launch. (If you do not have iTunes, you must download and install it before activating your iPhone. It can be downloaded for free from iTunes.com.)
- 3). Click "Yes" when a window appears stating the computer has detected a new iPhone and if you would like to activate it.
- 4). Allow iTunes to connect to the Internet. Here you are asked to input a serial number and your wireless number. The serial number is found on the back of the phone. Type in your wireless number and click "OK." Wait a moment and the online activation process finishes.
- 5). Name the device in iTunes when asked what to call the device, then proceed with adding the music and other content you would like on your newly activated iPhone 2G.
