How to Use Windows XP 2005 Professional Edition

    • 1). Log on to your user account when the "User Login" screen appears. This comes up right before Windows XP loads. Select your user name and type in the password, then click "Log on."

    • 2). Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of the desktop. This pulls up a new selection. From this, if you want to load a particular program, click "All Programs." This brings up another panel of selections. This panel displays all the programs installed on the computer.

    • 3). Hover your mouse over the program you want to run. A program group appears. The program group includes the actual program, plus typically a read me file and an uninstall selection (each listed separately). Select the actual program name to launch the program.

    • 4). Exit from a program by clicking the red "X" button in the upper right corner of the window, or click "File" on the toolbar on the top of the screen, and then select "Quit."

    • 5). Log off and turn the computer off by clicking the "Start" button, then click either "Log Off" or "Shut Down." From here you can either log off but leave the computer running, or turn off the computer.
