- 1). Click on the Windows "Start" button, then type "regedit" into the search box. Press the "Enter" key to open the Windows registry editor.
- 2). Click on the hive named "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" at the top of the registry tree to open it. This hive stores Windows settings that are used by all of the computer's users.
- 3). Open the "SOFTWARE" branch to see the settings for all applications installed within Windows.
- 4). Drill down to the end of a branch, where the actual settings are defined. Double-click on a value to edit it, then click "OK" to save the change.
- 5). Right-click and select "New" to create a new key or value. You can create a new branch If you select "Key," or you can select the data type of the value that you want to add.
- 6). Close the registry editor to finish editing.
