How to Manage Startup on Windows XP

    • 1). Click the "Start" button in the Windows taskbar.

    • 2). Click "Run." Type "MSCONFIG" (no quotes) and press the "Enter" key on your keyboard. The System Configuration Utility will open.

    • 3). Click the "Startup" tab. From here, you can add or remove programs from the startup process. Remove checks from the programs you want to remove from the startup process, click "Apply" and click "OK." To add a program to the startup process, drag and drop the EXE (or any kind of executable file) file for that program into the startup box.
