Side Stand

• 1). Lift the motorcycle into a vertical position, using its center stand or an accessory maintenance stand.
  
  
• 2). Unscrew the nut from the back of the side stand's pivot bolt, using a socket wrench.
  
  
• 3). Pull the spring off the side stand and the motorcycle's frame.
  
  
• 4). Remove the pivot bolt and side stand from the frame.
  
  
• 5). Clean the pivot bolt, nut, spring and side stand with degreaser . Dry the parts thoroughly with a clean rag.
  
  
• 6). Apply a thin coat of lithium grease to the spring's coils and the pivot bolt's shaft. Reassemble the side stand on the motorcycle in the reverse order of removal.
  
  
• 7). Raise and lower the side stand several times to work the grease into the stand's mounting point. Lower the motorcycle from its center stand or maintenance stand.
  
  

Center Stand

• 1). Place the motorcycle on a maintenance stand.
  
  
• 2). Unscrew the nut from the center stand's pivot bolt, using a socket wrench.
  
  
• 3). Unhook the center stand springs from the motorcycle's frame, using a pair of pliers.
  
  
• 4). Pull the pivot bolt out of the center stand and the motorcycle's frame.
  
  
• 5). Clean the pivot bolt, nut, springs and side stand with degreaser . Dry the parts thoroughly with a clean rag.
  
  
• 6). Apply a thin coat of lithium grease to the spring's coils and the pivot bolt's shaft. Reassemble the side stand on the motorcycle in the reverse order of removal.
  
  
• 7). Raise and lower the center stand several times to work the grease into the stand's mounting point. Lower the motorcycle from the maintenance stand.
