How to Fix a Slow Boot in Windows XP

    • 1). Turn on your computer.

    • 2). Click on the "Start" menu and then click "Run."

    • 3). Type "msconfig" in the open box and then click "OK" to open the system configuration utility.

    • 4). Click the "Boot" tab.

    • 5). Click on "Default Settings." Change the default settings for "Time Out" to "5" seconds, instead of 30 seconds, which is the default.

    • 6). Press "OK" and then restart the computer.
