- 1). Start Windows Explorer from the taskbar shortcut or click the "Start" button and select "Computer" from the menu.
- 2). Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32 folder. Many of the core Windows files and utilities are stored in this folder.
- 3). Select the file msconfig.exe and press the "Delete" key. Confirm the deletion in the dialog that appears.
- 1). Start Windows Explorer from the Taskbar shortcut or click the "Start" button and select "Computer" from the menu.
- 2). Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
- 3). Right-click on the msconfig.exe file, and select "Properties" from the menu. Click the "Security" tab and click the "Edit" permissions button. Select the user accounts that you want to exclude from accessing the MSConfig program and modify their permissions to deny all access to the program.
- 4). Click "Apply" to apply the changes and click "OK" to dismiss the dialog.
- 1). Start Windows Explorer from the Taskbar shortcut or click the "Start" button and select "Computer" from the menu.
- 2). Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
- 3). Right-click msconfig.exe and select "Rename" from the menu.
- 4). Rename the file, using a filename that only you will know so the users cannot access the program via the old filename.
