- 1). Shift the Intrepid's transmission into park and shut down the engine. Set the emergency brake and allow the engine to cool for at least 60 minutes.
- 2). Open the hood and locate the camshaft sensor. It is on the front edge of the cylinder head on the driver's side. It is black, has a retaining bolt that holds it to the cylinder head and has a three-wire connector attached to it.
- 3). Depress the locking tab on the sensor's electrical connector, and remove the connector from the sensor. Remove the 10-mm retaining bolt holding the sensor to the cylinder head using a 3/8-inch ratchet and 10-mm socket. Remove the camshaft sensor from the cylinder head by pulling and twisting at the same time.
- 4). Install the new camshaft sensor into the cylinder head using a twisting/pushing motion. Replace the retaining bolt with the ratchet and socket. Reconnect the camshaft sensor's electrical connector. Start the engine and verify that it operates properly.
