- 1). Restart your computer. Press "F8" repeatedly as the computer boots up, until the Windows startup options menu appears. Choose "Safe Mode" and hit "Enter."
- 2). Click "Start" and click "Computer" or "My Computer." Double-click your primary hard drive. Enter the "Windows" folder and the "System32" folder.
- 3). Scroll through the list of files until you find "wgalogon.dll" and "wgatray.exe." You can delete these files completely or, if you need WGA in the future, right-click each file, choose "Rename" and add ".bak" on the end of the file name, after the extension.
- 4). Click "Start" and type "Regedit" into the search box. Click "Regedit" when it appears in the search results. The Registry Editor window appears.
- 5). Click "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE," "SOFTWARE," "Microsoft," "Windows NT" and "Current Version." Find the "WGALogon" folder under "Current Version" and enter it. Right-click "Notify" and choose "Delete." Restart your computer normally.
