- 1). Dip a soft-bristled paintbrush into some water and squeeze the water droplets into the watercolors of your choice to activate them.
- 2). Gather some diluted watercolor paint on your brush and glide it across the watercolor paper to form a single petal. Wash all color from the brush immediately and dip it into the other color, which is the color being used for the tips of each petal.
- 3). Paint a line across the outside edge of the petal with the new color. Immediately wash the paint from the brush, get the bristles wet but not dripping, and gently dab the line where the two colors meet until they blend into each other.
- 4). Complete the rose, painting each individual petal separately so that the colors can blend nicely while they are still wet.
- 5). Paint any leaves or stems around the rose after all the petals have completely dried.
