- 1). Download the Ventrilo server application (see References) that matches your operating system.
- 2). Double-Click the Ventrilo server icon and follow the installation wizard, making sure to keep the default path.
- 3). Locate and open the "VentSrv" folder.
- 4). Double-click the "Ventrilo_Srv" application inside of the "VentSrv" folder. This will initialize your Ventrilo server and must be kept running in order to maintain user connections.
- 1). Open the "Ventrilo_Srv" configuration settings inside the "VentSrv" folder.
- 2). Change the name of your server by replacing the words "Server 1" with whatever you wish your Ventrilo server to be called. Make sure that you also replace "Server 1" under "Phonetic" so that when users log onto your server, they will hear the right server name.
- 3). Create an admin password by typing it next to the words "Admin password." When you log onto the server as the Admin, you can create channels and usernames and assign passwords for guests. Keep this password safe because you will use it when you log into your server.
- 4). Disable the "Silent lobby" by replacing the "0" with a "1" to allow people to talk in the Ventrilo lobby.
- 5). Click "File" and select "Save" to finalize the changes. Close out the configuration file and restart the "Ventrilo_Srv" application to update your server.
