- The Apple iPad 2 was released in 2011 as the second installment of the Apple iPad series. It has a 9.7-inch diagonal touch screen, 512 MB of RAM and a choice of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB capacity. The iPad has cameras on the front and back and dimensions of 9.5 by 7.3 by 0.34 inches, weighing 1.33 pounds. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a 3G version is also available.
- The Apple iPad 2 is one of the most complete tablet PCs because of the number of applications that are available for it--over 60,000. It has a sleek, thin design and good battery life. The display can sometimes be too reflective when using the device outside--for example, using iBook reader--and the cameras and speakers have been criticized by some reviews. A lack of USB port also is one of the flaws of the device.
- The Samsung Galaxy Tab looks similar to the iPad in appearance and has a 7-inch touch screen. The device has an A8 ARM 1GHz Cortex processor, a PowerVR SGX540 graphic accelerator and 16 GB of internal memory, with an additional microSD card slot. It features the ability to multi-task and has Flash support--in contrast to the iPad. It can be used on all 3G bands and has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The device also supports videoconferencing over Wi-Fi.
- The Samsung Galaxy Tab has a fast processing speed and good wireless connectivity. The ability to multitask applications is a useful function, and Flash support means that you can use more Internet applications. Downsides to the device are that the same Flash applications can slow it down, the battery is inaccessible, the Samsung applications require a data connection and there are not as many available.
