How to Reset My Canon Chip

    • 1). Turn off your printer by pressing on its power button, and wait for the LED light to turn off.

    • 2). Unplug the printer from the power source and take out its USB cord from your PC.

    • 3). Locate the "Resume" and "Power" buttons on top of the printer and hold them down at the same time.

    • 4). Plug the printer back into its power source to allow the printer to initialize. Release its "Power" button while holding the "Resume" button. This will initiate the test mode of your Canon printer.

    • 5). Release the "Resume" button as soon as you see the printer go on test mode. This will start your printer on service mode and turn off its display light.

    • 6). Press the printer's "Resume" button once and wait for the "Ink Count" or "Reset Waste Ink Counter" message to appear on its screen. Do this four times in case the message does not appear on your first try.

    • 7). Press the printer's "0" button to reset your Canon chip. If you are using a bubble jet printer, press the "Cartridge" button.

    • 8). Press the "Set" or "OK" button to turn off the printer again.

    • 9). Unplug the device from its power source, and plug it back in before hooking it up to your PC's USB port to start using the printer.
