How to Make My Wireless Optical Mouse Work

    Getting the Mouse Ready

    • 1). Turn the mouse over and look for a button to release the battery compartment. If not obvious, consult the owner's manual of the mouse for clarification.

    • 2). Install the battery. Consult the graphics inside the battery compartment to make sure it is inserted correctly. The positive and negative terminals of the battery must match the graph in order for the mouse to work.

    • 3). Replace the battery cover and turn the mouse right side up.

Connecting the Mouse to the Computer

    • 1). Find the USB dongle that should be included with the mouse packaging. Insert this into an available USB port on the computer. This device is how the wireless mouse communicates with the system.

    • 2). In most cases, the mouse is recognized automatically. Move the mouse around to see if the pointer on the screen moves. If not, connect another mouse for the time being to make installation easier.

    • 3). Install the drivers from the CD-ROM provided with the mouse. Insert the CD into the drive. It should automatically come up with options to install the mouse driver. Follow the instructions. The mouse should function once the installation is finished.
