- 1). Connect one end of the audio cable into your MacBook Pro's headphone port.
- 2). Connect the other end of the cable into the device from which you want to record audio. This port will be the same as the headphone jack and labeled "Aux."
- 3). Turn on both devices, if you haven't yet done so.
- 4). Open your recording program of choice on your MacBook Pro. All MacBook Pros come with GarageBand by default, but alternate solutions, such as Audacity and Logic Studio, are available for higher-end users.
- 5). Begin recording in your audio program.
- 6). Begin playing the audio that you want to record on your external device. By default, the recording will be in stereo, because the design of most modern audio cables produces two-channel playback.
- 7). Continue playing back this audio until you've recorded the desired amount of content. Stop recording on your MacBook to finish.
