How to Wire a Harness Clip

    • 1). Cut the primary wires to the desired length. In most cases, wires used in a harness are the same length as each other.

    • 2). Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from the wires on the clip end. Do so for the wires designated for the male and female clips.

    • 3). Lay the wires into the harness pin connectors. Center the first of the two crimping positions on the pins just below the point where the insulation meets the bare wire. Set this crimping point into the harness crimp tool and squeeze the handles.

    • 4). Ensure the second of the two crimping points is centered over the bare wire on the primary wires. Set this into the crimp tool and squeeze the handles to complete the crimp.

    • 5). Slide the crimped pins into the back of the harness clips. The two clips will have corresponding wires. Push the wires in until the barbs on the pins spring out, securing the connector.
