- 1). Place on protective goggles and face mask.
- 2). Sand the paintedarea lightly with sandpaper to roughen surface. Vacuum up paint flakes using shop vac, then wipe away any residual dust or dirt using a clean, damp rag.
- 3). Spackle any holes or cracks in the surface and allow spackle to dry for six to eight hours.
- 4). Scoop up mastic using the trowel, and spread across the surface.
- 5). Press tiles into the mastic. Apply more mastic if it forms a skin before you attach the tiles.
- 6). Rub over tile with your hands to ensure a firm connection between the tile and the mastic.
- 7). Allow to dry overnight.
- 8). Smear tile grout diagonally across tiles using the grout float, and pack grout into the spaces between tiles.
- 9). Wipe grout from tile surface using the sponge, then allow grout to set for one hour.

Apply silicone caulk along the grout lines, and allow to dry according to manufacturer's directions.
