How to Edit a Windows XP CD

    • 1). Make sure you have the equipment necessary to make alterations to a burned CD in Windows XP. You'll need a disc drive capable of rewriting CDs, and a rewritable CD. Both of these will have the "CD-RW" label on them. If this label is not present you will not be able to make edits to your disc.

    • 2). Put the disc you want to edit in your CD-RW drive.

    • 3). Double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Once the "My Computer" window has opened click on the label associated with your CD-RW drive.

    • 4). Drag any files or folders you wish to add to your CD into the window representing its current state. You can also delete any files from the CD you do not want to be there.

    • 5). Select "Write these Files to the CD." This can be found under the "File" menu. Windows XP will then ask you to name your CD. Do so, and then click the "Next" button and then the "Finish" option. Windows XP will make the changes to the CD-RW disc that you've specified. A dialog box will appear on screen indicating that the rewriting process is complete and you are free to remove your disc from the drive.
