- 1). Turn off your weedwacker if it's on. Unscrew the gas cap on the side of the weedwacker and add gasoline to fill it up if it is low.
- 2). Remove the fours screw over the motor cover using a Phillips screwdriver. Lift up and remove the cover.
- 3). Pull out the air filter and wash it with warm running water and dish soap if it needs to be cleaned.
- 4). Squeeze any excess water that remains in the filter and place the filter back into the weedwacker.
- 5). Remove the two screws from the hood over the spark plug near the bottom of the motor using a flathead screwdriver. Lift off the hood and set it aside.
- 6). Insert a socket wrench into the connection end of the spark plug in order to pry it off.
- 7). Clean the spark plug using an old cloth and wire brush. Replace the plug with a new part if it is broken.
- 8). Reconnect the hood and reinsert the two screws. Place the motor cover back and reinsert the four screws into the cover.
- 9). Clean off the rest of the exterior of your weedwacker using a wet cloth in order to remove any debris. Dry off the weedwacker with a dry cloth or paper towels.
